The Foreign Service Youth Foundation (FSYF) and Hemispheres Academy (HA) invite FSYF youth members and HA students to participate in our inaugural Summer Reading Program (SRP)! The reading period begins on June 1st and ends on August 31st. Readers will select a metric (books, pages, or time read) and will track their progress using a provided reading log. They'll also receive a comprehensive, age-based reading list for inspiration and a fun reading BINGO sheet.
Throughout the summer, SRP participants are encouraged to submit book reviews and compile lists of their favorite books, with all contributors eligible for a drawing to win an E-reader and other prizes.
The program kicks off virtually on Sunday, June 2nd with FS author Vida Gecas and featuring her new, award-winning book "Lucky Puppy Finds Two Families." An in-person SRP launch will be held on Saturday, June 22nd at the Planet Word Museum in Washington, DC. Readers can also participate in a mid-summer check-in and a closing ceremony where prizes will be awarded. SRP participants will receive a Hemispheres Academy bookmark and SRP "brag tag" just for logging their reading achievements.
The SRP aims to keep kids engaged academically over the summer while fostering lifelong learning habits, expanding vocabulary, and supporting social and emotional learning. We hope you and your kids will join us! PLEASE COMPLETE ONE REGISTRATION FORM PER PARTICIPATING CHILD!
