Register

Join the nationally recognized test prep experts from Top Score Education for a comprehensive virtual group SAT class designed exclusively for FSYF members (and individuals eligible for FSYF membership). This class is ideal for all current sophomores and juniors. Seniors who have not taken the SAT or plan to retake the exam are also encouraged to join.

Structure of Class

This virtual SAT prep course will consist of 16 90-minute weekly sessions on Saturdays from June 22 through October 26, preparing students for two official test attempts. To make this class accessible for as many time zones as possible, Top Score will offer two weekly sessions from 9:00-10:30 AM EST and 7:30-9:00 PM EST on Saturdays.

Classes will be capped at 16,  early registration is recommended, and registration closes seven days before the start of the first class.

Students will join a specific cohort (morning or evening) but can switch cohorts as needed. So, for example, a student PCSing from DC to Asia over the summer could participate in the morning cohort while in DC and join the 7:30-9:00 PM EST option (Sunday morning in Asia) after their move.

This course costs $1,000 for FSYF members and $1,200 for non-FSYF members. However, this course is only open to individuals eligible for membership in the FSYF. All materials, resources, and communication with Top Score are included in this cost.

Learning Objectives

  • Prepare students for two official SAT attempts on August 24 and November 2 through a comprehensive review of content, strategies, and mindsets necessary for success on the SAT.

  • Build community among FSYF students around the world. This group class is intentionally open exclusively to FSYF students. An explicit goal of this course is to foster connections between FSYF students worldwide.

Each family is responsible for registering their students for the official SAT test attempts on August 24 and November 2.

FSYF and Top Score Education are unable to do this for students. More information about how to register for the SAT is here: https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/sat/dates-deadlines.

Registration for the August SAT typically opens around early to mid-June. Registration for the November SAT typically opens around early to mid-September. It's essential to check the College Board website for the most accurate and up-to-date information, as registration dates vary slightly from year to year.

About the Instructors

Santi Orozco: As a refugee and first-generation college graduate, Santi is acutely aware of the power of education and how a student’s identity impacts their learning. Santi brings a depth of experience as a Top Score SAT and ACT tutor. A proud Duke graduate, Santi is an empathetic and skilled tutor who consistently creates an environment where his students reach their full potential.

He worked in several academic settings before joining Top Score, including serving as a tutor at BoldABC, an academic specialist at Durham Academy Summer Institutes, a Project Manager at KIPP Public Schools, and Head Tutor at Durham Public Schools.

In his free time, you will find Santi attending concerts, playing Settlers of Catan, and spending time with his family.

Thais Menendez: Thais has been tutoring professionally since 2014 and is an SAT and ACT master who can break down even the most advanced content in a manner that is accessible to all students. Thais's teaching style creates an encouraging learning environment rooted in compassion and trust, enabling students to take risks and ask questions in a supportive space.

Currently working as a professional SAG-AFTRA actress, Thais brings a flair for student engagement to all her tutoring sessions. Her undergraduate experiences at Boston College leading the AHANA Collective Theatre, certifications earned teaching English in Spain, and professional acting background have provided her with a deep working understanding of emotional intelligence and how to engage with students of all backgrounds and abilities.
