Description:

Embark on a journey of friendship and connection within the vibrant Third Culture Kid (TCK) community. Join us for an engaging session where we'll explore the intricacies of making and maintaining friendships across continents and cultures. Drawing from our diverse experiences as global nomads, we'll delve into the essence of friendship, reflecting on its universal qualities and the unique challenges and rewards of forging bonds in transient lifestyles.

In this interactive gathering, we'll navigate through meaningful discussions, sharing insights and strategies for nurturing friendships amidst constant change. From fostering empathy and understanding to embracing cultural differences, we'll uncover the key ingredients for cultivating lasting connections in the TCK community and beyond.

Additionally, prepare to embark on a special activity from the "friendship kit" mailed to you at your posting. This hands-on experience will not only deepen our understanding of friendship dynamics but also serve as a creative expression of our shared experiences as TCKs.

Learning Objectives:

  • Forge authentic connections with fellow Foreign Service youth worldwide, fostering a sense of belonging and camaraderie within the TCK community.
  • Explore the qualities and attributes that define meaningful friendships, reflecting on personal experiences and cultural influences that shape our perceptions of friendship.
  • Discuss effective strategies for maintaining and nurturing friendships across geographical distances and cultural boundaries, overcoming challenges and celebrating the diversity of our global friendships.
  • Engage in a hands-on activity from the "friendship kit," applying creative expression to deepen our understanding of friendship dynamics and strengthen our bonds as a community.
  • Cultivate empathy, communication skills, and cultural competence, enhancing our ability to build and sustain meaningful connections with peers from diverse backgrounds.

Join us as we embark on a journey of friendship and discovery, celebrating the power of human connection to transcend borders and unite hearts across the globe. Together, let's embrace the joy of making friends (again!) and nurture the bonds that enrich our TCK experience.
