Description:

Let’s take a look at some of the FSYF Art Contest renderings and discuss what comes up for you in looking at them. Can you see yourself or your global journey in the art piece? In this meeting, we’ll also create an art piece that reflects some of your own identity and global homes, so bring some paper and colored pencils/markers!

Learning Objectives:

  • Forge meaningful connections with fellow Third Culture Kids (TCKs) from around the world, fostering a sense of community and belonging within the Foreign Service youth community.
  • Engage in open dialogue to explore the diverse experiences, both enriching and challenging, associated with the TCK lifestyle, fostering empathy, understanding, and support.
  • Cultivate self-awareness and introspection by reflecting on personal TCK journeys and identifying key themes, emotions, and memories that shape our identities.
  • Embrace the therapeutic power of artistic expression as a tool for self-discovery and storytelling, creating an art piece that serves as a visual representation of our unique TCK narratives.
  • Foster a sense of pride and empowerment in our TCK identities, celebrating the richness and complexity of our multicultural backgrounds while navigating the intricacies of global transitions.
