Join FSYF as we partner with the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) and JK Community Farm for a morning in the fields! Participants will help glean, or plant and harvest crops that will then supply AFAC clients with fresh, organic, locally-grown fruits and vegetables!
The event will be held on Saturday, October 14th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the JK Farm in Purcellville. Participants will be responsible for their own transportation to the event, though please let FSYF know if you’re interested in a carpool or caravan.
Anyone ages 6 years old and older is eligible to volunteer and no experience is required! For more information about JK Farm, please visit their website: https://jkcommunityfarm.org/. AFAC is Arlington’s only organization solely devoted to providing Arlington residents dignified access to nutritious, supplemental groceries—free of charge. It typically serves almost 4,000 families per month and more than 30% of its beneficiaries are children. For more information about AFAC, visit www.afac.org.
