FSYF invites repatriating middle school students to join us for a workshop designed to help empower them with tools for their re-entry process.  We'll brainstorm strategies for adjusting to life in American middle schools, the new reality they will be facing due to COVID and the coping skills needed for a successful year.  There will be a panel of students to share their personal experiences. The teen workshop will be led by Megan Norton.

While students are in their session, parents are invited to participate in a discussion moderated by FSYF Board member Kim DeBlauw. This session will feature other recent repatriated parents of Middle School students.

As a former dip kid/third culture kid in the Foreign Service Youth Foundation, Megan Norton gets you! And she helps Third Culture Kids get wherever they're going! Growing up as a U.S. diplomat dependent, she lived in six countries (the U.S., South Africa, South Korea, Germany, Japan, and Israel) and has lived in four more as an Adult Third Culture Kid (Austria, Greece, Hungary, Poland) in addition to five U.S. States (Virginia, South Carolina, Florida, Washington DC, and Michigan). She holds two master degrees in TCK-identity and intercultural communication themes, co-founded a nonprofit for U.S. diplomat TCKs (www.interculturaltransitions.org), and has led both in person and virtual TCK Transitions Seminars, university retreats and Intercultural Dialogue groups for a variety of international schools, organizations, and communities. She loves hearing TCKs share their stories and supporting their journey into their next ‘home.” Megan is an avid writer and photographer (www.adultthirdculturekid.com) and you can find her on Instagram at @adult_third_culture_kid_blog.

Kim DeBlauw joined the Foreign Service in 1986 and has served in Nuevo Laredo, Lome, Lisbon, Brussels, La Paz, Ankara and Madrid as well as in Washington.  Kim is married to Juan Ramirez; they have three children.  She previously served on the FSYF board and on multiple school boards overseas.  Kim is a graduate of Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service.
