Please join FSYF and Around the World 5K on Saturday, April 17 to run/walk a 5k with other Foreign Service members all over the world in the month of April!

The Around the World 5K was started in 2014 by State Department spouse, Leah Moorefield Evans.  The race encourages expats worldwide to pick a day in April to run/walk a 5K for charity, fitness, and community.  Each year, the race selects a non-profit organization to support financially and participants can donate to that organization and/or one of their own choosing. This year’s designated charity is A Family for Every Orphan.. The non-profit’s executive director, Micala Siler, was the wife of an officer serving at the US Embassy, Kyiv.  She died tragically in September of 2020 while running in the Ukraine capital.

In the Around the World 5K’s first year, 97 participants in 22 cities gave to the Diamond Blackfan Anemia Foundation. Participation has increased annually to a record 680 participants in 54 cities in 2019. A dedicated group of runners and walkers last year overcame pandemic challenges to run in their homes, yards, and rooftops! Through their efforts, participants have raised over $15,000.  We are striving to break all annual records this year!

This is open to kids of all ages who are interested in coming!
