Please make sure to register  at fsyf.org for this FREE webinar in order to receive the information to access the call.

Maureen Johnston has been the KidVid Contest Coordinator for over 20 years, and she has been impressed with many of the submissions she’s received over that time.  Many of them have provided a very honest look at what life is like from a youth’s perspective, and families considering an upcoming post have always mentioned how appreciative they are to have this resource. At least one former talented KidVid winner is now working in the film industry after graduating as a film major in college.

Maureen is a resource specialist at the Overseas Briefing Center. Members of the foreign affairs community reach out to her daily via phone, online and in-person asking advice on a variety of logistical topics, especially her expertise on pet shipping.  She also understands many of the challenges EFMs face when adjusting to new posts because her spouse was regional and traveled extensively during much of their time abroad.  While abroad, she taught at an international school, worked as a protocol assistant to an ambassador, and as a CLO.

Throughout the year, she does presentations for incoming employees and family members from U.S. Government agencies, who are being assigned abroad or returning to the U.S. In addition, she trains for the Transition Center’s Training Division including the popular Traveling with Pets for the Foreign Affairs Community and Moving Overseas Logistics for the Foreign Affairs Community.  Maureen also works to encourage embassies and consulates to make post videos that provide a look at community life including housing, shopping, recreation and other aspects of life at their post.

If you can not attend - the webinar will be recorded and available online for FSYF members.
