Job Title: Social Media Strategy Contractor
Project Overview:
FSYF seeks a contractor to lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive social media communications strategy. The aim is to enhance FSYF’s visibility, engagement, and storytelling capacity across key platforms, supporting Foreign Service Third Culture Kids (FS/TCKs) and their families.
This role involves conducting research and analysis on social media best practices for small NGOs in the youth and education sectors, establishing a more effective, timely and relevant FSYF presence on multiple platforms, creating targeted and engaging content, and fostering a sense of community among FSYF’s diverse audience. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with FSYF’s Executive Director and Board to ensure the strategy is scalable, impactful, and sustainable.
Scope of Work:
1. Develop and Implement a Comprehensive Social Media Strategy:

Research and analyze social media best practices for small NGOs/nonprofits, particularly those in the youth and education sectors.

Establish a clear content creation, scheduling, and posting process to ensure consistent engagement.

Design a sustainable social media infrastructure that can be maintained by FSYF staff and Board members beyond the contract period, including recommendations for social media operations, operational responsibilities, and staffing needs.
2. Platform-Specific Strategy and Content Creation:

Wild Apricot: Optimize its use to support FSYF social media operations.

Facebook: Recover FSYF’s Facebook account and begin using it as a resource for parents and older TCKs.

Instagram: Update an Instagram account to engage teenagers with visually appealing, story-driven content.

TikTok: If legally permissible, create a TikTok presence targeting middle school-aged TCKs with engaging video content.

LinkedIn: Update the FSYF LinkedIn account and page to more broadly and effectively engage professionals, businesses, and potential donors.
3. Promote FSYF Programs and Foster Engagement:

Share relevant stories, tips, and resources for TCKs and their families.

Highlight FSYF programs and events through strategic and engaging posts.

Develop and implement interactive features such as peer-group forums and FSYF member/family feedback tools to foster deeper connections and participation.
4. Measurement and Feedback:

Implement tools to track social media metrics, such as follower growth and engagement rates.

Conduct surveys, polls, and other tools to solicit user feedback to refine content and strategy.
5. Optional Part-Time Social Media Expertise:

Social media best practices report for small NGOs/nonprofits with similar missions to that of FSYF.

Comprehensive social media strategy and infrastructure plan.

Fully operational social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn.

Initial content plan and schedule for each platform; develop content models and initial actual content.

Monthly reports on social media metrics and engagement insights.
Qualifications:

Proven experience in social media strategy development and execution, preferably for NGOs or nonprofits.

Proficiency in managing and creating content for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn.

Strong research and analytical skills to identify and apply social media best practices.

Excellent communication and storytelling skills to engage diverse audiences.

Familiarity with the unique challenges and opportunities of Third Culture Kids (TCKs) and their families is a plus.
Compensation: $7,000 for the project’s part-time, short-term duration.
Project Timeline: FSYF anticipates a project start date on or around March 31, 2025. All work is to be completed by September 30, 2025.
