Unaccompanied Tours (UT)

Unaccompanied Tours (UT), TDYs and Evacuations are all becoming commonplace in today's Foreign Service and all can be disruptive to the family.  The good news is that families need not endure the hardship alone.  Many of us have been through a prolonged family separation and can offer a lot of advice and moral support.

FLO Crisis Management Services and the Office of Unaccompanied Tours (UT) can provide support and/or point you in the right direction for DOS-sponsored information on allowances, administrative procedures, and emotional concerns

FLO's Unaccompanied Tours (UT) Support Program

FLO's Unaccompanied Tours Support Team is available to employees and family members (including spouses, partners, parents, siblings, and children of all ages) before, during, and after an unaccompanied assignment to answer questions, clarify options, and offer information and guidance on common concerns.

FLO’s UT program offers a number of services and resources for employees and families preparing for, serving in, or returning from an assignment to an unaccompanied post. To learn more about these resources see below. For additional questions, please email FLO at FLOAskUT@state.gov.
