Boarding Schools

Boarding School may be a viable option for your family for some of the following reasons:

  • Your child seeks an education that is not disrupted by family moves,
  • The schooling options at your post are limited or non-existent at your child's level,
  • You are not satisfied with the schooling options at your post, and homeschooling is not an option.
There are sure to be additional reasons to consider boarding school, but whatever the reason, there is much for you to consider and here are some resources to get you started:

This site has information and links on the steps you should take, allowances, special education concerns and more.  If you have questions, make sure to contact FLO - they're there to help you.

The Office of Overseas Schools maintains lists outlining the schooling options at post as well as those posts that have an allowance for boarding schools.  If you have questions about overseas schools, make sure to contact the Regional Education Officer (REO) for the relevant region.  There is more detailed information on the intranet.
